This page explains, in plain language, what is inside Sprite Catch, why it is rated for ages 13 and up, and exactly what keeps its social features safe. It is here for parents deciding whether the app is right for their child, and for App Store reviewers assessing its rating.

1. What Sprite Catch is

Sprite Catch is a collection tracker for the "sprite" collectibles in Fortnite Chapter 7. You mark which sprites you own, mastered, or want, and watch your completion progress climb. It is not a game, it does not connect to your Epic account, and it cannot grant, transfer or change any in-game item. It is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Epic Games, Inc.

Used purely as a tracker, the app asks for nothing personal and requires no account — a child who only ticks off their collection is not sharing any information and is not exposed to any other user.

2. Who it is for

The social features — the feed, trades, profiles and messaging — are for ages 13 and up, and the app turns them off automatically for anyone whose declared age is under 13 (see section 5). The collection tracker is suitable for a general audience: a younger child can track their collection without any social features and without sharing anything. The app is not submitted under Apple's "Made for Kids" category, because it contains open user-to-user communication that is not appropriate for the Kids Category.

3. What the app itself contains

Everything Sprite Catch creates and displays on its own is suitable for a general audience:

• Cartoon collectible artwork and the app's own interface — no realistic violence, no blood or gore, no sexual or suggestive content, no profanity, no horror or frightening themes.
• No alcohol, tobacco, drug use or references.
• No gambling and no simulated gambling. There are no loot boxes, no spins, no wagering and no chance-based purchases of any kind.
• No unrestricted access to the web. The only external links are to the App Store, to Epic's public Fan Content Policy, and to this website's own Support, Privacy and Terms pages.

4. Why the rating is 13+, not 4+ — the social features

The rating is driven entirely by user-generated content and user-to-user communication, which are optional and off by default until you choose to use them:

• A public posts feed — collectors can write short posts and react to others'.
• Trade listings and profiles — a collector can list sprites they have and want, with a free-text note, and choose to make their profile public.
• Direct messages — collectors can message one another, and a message can include a photo the sender chooses to attach.

Because these let users communicate and share content with people they may not know, we answer Apple's age-rating questionnaire honestly as containing user-generated content, user-to-user communication, and user-shared photos. That is what produces the 13+ rating. We do not, and would not, hand-lower it.

5. How the social features are kept safe

Every user-facing feature is moderated. Apple requires four safeguards for any app with user-generated content or messaging; Sprite Catch has all four, and they are active:

Automatically filter objectionable content	All text — posts, trade notes, chat-request notes, and every direct message — is automatically screened for banned content before it can be posted or sent. Photos attached to messages are not scanned automatically; they can only be sent inside a direct message the recipient already accepted, and they are moderated on report, like any other content.
Report objectionable content and users	Any user, post, trade, or message can be reported from an in-app menu, with a reason. Reports are reviewed and acted on — content is removed and accounts that break the rules are suspended or removed.
Block abusive users	Any user can block any other user. A block is mutual — it hides both people from each other and stops further messages.

Further protections reduce unwanted contact and put parents in control:

• No one can message you cold. Direct messages are request-gated — another collector must send a request that you accept before any conversation, or any photo, can reach you.
• Nothing is public by default. A new profile is private. Your collection and details are only visible to others once you deliberately turn on a public profile (posting or trading turns it on, and the app tells you before you confirm).
• Under-13 accounts can't use the social features at all. The app checks the device's declared age range (Apple's Declared Age Range service, with a date-of-birth fallback) and, for an under-13 result, turns the feed, trades, profiles and messaging off automatically — leaving only the collection tracker.
• Parents can lock it down. A built-in, passcode-protected Parental Controls screen (in Settings) lets a parent switch off Community, Messages and News independently — down to a collection-only app that a child can't change back.

Automated moderation is not perfect, and it is not a substitute for a parent's involvement — but it runs on everything, all the time.

6. No ads, no purchases, no tracking

Sprite Catch is a free hobby project. There are no advertisements, no in-app purchases, and no subscriptions. There is no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking of any kind, and the app does not ask for your location, contacts, or photo library. What little it stores, and who it is shared with, is set out in full in the Privacy Policy.

7. For parents and guardians

If your child uses Sprite Catch purely to track their collection, they are not sharing anything or talking to anyone. The parts to be aware of are the social features in section 4 — posts, trades, and direct messages with strangers. Sprite Catch has a built-in Parental Controls screen (in Settings, protected by a passcode you set) that switches those off — individually, or all the way down to a collection-only app — and it disables them automatically for a declared under-13 account. You can also keep the profile private (the default) and ask them not to post, trade, or accept message requests. Apple's built-in Screen Time & Content Restrictions and Communication Limits can restrict things at the device level too.
