How a trade works on Sprite Catch, and what happens to the people who ruin it.
How a trade works here
Sprite Catch does not hold or move anything. The swap itself happens in Fortnite, between the two of you — what happens here is finding each other, agreeing it, and putting it on both of your records afterwards.
1. Find each other and talk
Post what you have and what you want on the trading board, or answer somebody else's post. A message request opens a conversation; you agree the swap there, in writing, before anything happens in the game.
2. Do the swap in Fortnite
Nothing is transferred by this app and nothing can be. If a plan needs you to hand something over first and trust the other person to go second, say so out loud and decide together — most disputes are that moment, and it is much easier to argue about it beforehand.
3. Confirm it, then rate each other
Either of you marks the trade done in the conversation and the other confirms. It only counts once both of you have agreed, and then you can rate each other out of five. That is what builds the star record on your profile — trades nobody confirms build nothing.
Never pay money for a Sprite
Nothing in Sprite Catch can be bought with money — there is no shop, no top-up and no purchase of any kind. So anybody asking you to pay cash, send a gift card, buy V-Bucks for them, or go through a payment site is not doing something the app supports. It is the single most common way people get robbed here.
The same goes for account details. Nobody from Sprite Catch will ever ask for your Epic password, a login code, or access to your account, and no trade needs any of them.
Report it from the conversation
Every post, reply, profile and message has a Report button. Use that one rather than an email: the report carries the message or the post with it, so a moderator sees exactly what you saw. An emailed description of a screenshot you have since lost cannot be acted on.
Blocking is separate and instant. It works in both directions: they cannot message you, and you stop seeing them.
What gets an account marked or removed
Reports are read by people. Depending on what turns up, an account can:
- Carry a scam warning. A visible mark on the profile and above every conversation, which also drops the account to the bottom of the star ladder. Collectors can mark each other too — a peer mark counts, and only the team's mark carries a reason.
- Lose posting, messaging or photos. Temporarily or otherwise, depending on what happened and how often.
- Take a strike against its standing. Your standing is on the settings screen and it tells you what happened and when it expires. Every strike expires — there is no permanent one — and you can appeal.
- Be removed. Scamming people, sexual content, threats, contacting minors, or trying to move somebody off the app to do any of it.
None of this stops you reporting somebody, ever — a marked account, a moderator's account, an account that has blocked you: the Report button always works.
